I am a historian.  It’s my profession and my passion. For over 40 years I’ve studied history, taught it, and written about it.  My focus is the United States.  My interests are politics, sports, popular culture, and local history.  That last one refers to Chicago—after all, I’m a fifth-generation Chicagoan.
